Why build an eight-storey apartment block in wood? One explanation, among many, is provided as soon as you enter the buildings in the Limnologen development, beautifully set by Trummen lake in Växjö. The feel of wood is all around. It is in the scent, the quiet, the air and the whole design. The four buildings are made entirely in wood: structural frame, floors, walls and even the lift shafts. Except for the ground floor, that is, which is cast in concrete to give the buildings the necessary stability. The Limnologen development is a shining example of how to build large and exciting designs in wood.
