Unstructured architecture: that is the theme I focused on for this task. Spruce is a much sought-after wood in Morocco and it comes mainly from Sweden. It is a robust and scented wood that is ideal for many different joinery projects. My starting point has been to simply make use of different pieces and compositions to preserve the natural patterns in the wood. To give the item more of a soul and to make the design stand out, I have also made use of colour.
Biog: Réda Bouamrani was born in 1971 and was fascinated by the manufacture of everyday objects from an early age. In 1995 he graduated from the prestigious Académie Charpentier and in 2001 he set up his own interior design business. He has also worked on product design and many of his pieces show an avant-garde approach to form and material. He has taken part in numerous national and international exhibitions and currently features at L’Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.
