The nominees
The Swedish Wood Award, an architectural prize administered by Swedish Wood, is one of the nation’s largest and most widely known architectural competitions. The award is presented every four years to a building constructed in Sweden that represents good architecture in wood and that reflects and improves the times we live in.
The Swedish Wood Award 2016 received a total of 139 entries. From these, the jury chose a shortlist of ten nominees, which we have the pleasure of presenting on the following pages. The competition is open to everyone, with the conditions that the building must be completed, at least four years old, have wood as a key component of the building’s design and be available for the jury to visit if they so wish.
The awards gala took place on 9 March 2016 at Nalen in Stockholm. This year’s winner was the 12th to have the honour of receiving the Swedish Wood Award statuette and the prize money of SEK 100,000.
