PERFECT SEA VIEWS, stunning cliffs and a pristine landscape. In amongst these features, in the undeveloped hills of West Maui, Hawaii, lies Clifftop House, home to the Stoj family for three years now. For much of the year they use the house as a private dwelling, but it can, when they so wish, be turned into a mini hotel. This is because the villa is designed as four separate units – under one roof that also serves as a sun terrace.
Each unit is U-shaped, so that all the rooms open up onto a perfect sea view. The areas between the separate units form communal spaces. Like the ceiling, floor and terrace, the roof is made of ipe, a hardwood from Central and South America.«
